For this month's Good Deed, we're on a mission to make people feel at home in our beautiful communities.
Everyone's Welcome
Canada's strength lies in its diversity, and as a testament to this, we are dedicating our efforts to support those seeking a new beginning in our homeland. Our initiative for the month is focused on donating to local organizations that stand at the forefront of assisting refugees and immigrants in our cities. These organizations provide essential services ranging from settlement support to educational programs, ensuring that newcomers have the resources and support they need to thrive in our cities.

A Story Close to Home
In the heart of this month's Good Deed initiative is Fatima Alatsha, our Junior Developer, whose own journey to Canada is an illustration of the challenges and triumphs that come with starting anew. Fatima's arrival in Thunder Bay during a December snowstorm in 2020 was more than just a personal milestone—it was a journey that resonated deeply with all of us here at Uride, reminding us of the resilience and determination many immigrants and refugees possess.
Originally from Northern Syria, Fatima and her family sought safety from their war-torn country, eventually leading her to a new home in Canada. Her transition from a life filled with uncertainty to one of hope and opportunity in our community is a powerful testament to the strength of spirit. Through her academic achievements and active participation in the community at Lakehead University and beyond, Fatima has shown what it means to thrive against the odds.
Fatima's perseverance through these hardships, combined with her academic achievements and involvement in the community at Lakehead University, is a testament to the strength and potential of every individual seeking a new start in Canada. Her story is a reminder of why our Good Deeds Program is so important—because behind every initiative are real people with dreams, aspirations, and the desire to contribute to their community.
Our Pledge to Our Communities
As we move forward, Uride remains committed to supporting our neighbours and the neighbourhoods that make every ride an incredible journey. Our Good Deeds Program is more than just a monthly initiative; it's a reflection of our values and our promise to continue making a positive impact on the communities we serve.
Together, let's drive towards a future where everyone feels at home, supported, and welcome in our beautiful Canadian communities. Join us in supporting these organizations and embracing the diversity of cultures that make Canada truly unique.
