Weathering the Cold Together: Uride’s Warmth Initiative

This winter is shaping up to be one of the harshest we’ve seen in recent years. Frigid temperatures, biting winds, and heavy snowfall have made life challenging for everyone, but it’s especially tough for those without proper winter clothing or access to warm shelter. At Uride, we believe in supporting the communities we serve, and that’s why we’re stepping up to make a difference during this challenging season.

For many, winter can bring a sense of joy and togetherness, but it’s also a stark reminder of the struggles faced by those who lack the resources to stay warm. Whether it’s individuals experiencing homelessness, families unable to afford winter clothing, or children walking to school in sub-zero temperatures, the cold can be unforgiving. No one should have to face the winter alone, and that’s why we’re taking action.

We’re proud to announce that Uride is donating to programs and initiatives across the country dedicated to keeping our communities warm. These organizations are working tirelessly to provide coats, gloves, scarves, and other winter essentials to those who need them most.

Here’s where we’re making a difference:

  • Kamloops: The Mustard Seed

  • Kelowna: Canadian Mental Health Association’s (CMHA)

  • Nanaimo: Nanaimo Family Life Association

  • Penticton: St. Saviours Penticton

  • Prince George: Fill the Bin

  • Vernon: Upper Room

  • Courtenay-Comox: Comox Valley Transition Society

  • Grande Prairie: Project Warmth

  • Medicine Hat: Project Warmth

  • Red Deer: Project Warmth

  • Belleville: Keep Kids Warm

  • Chatham-Kent: R.O.C.K

  • North Bay: The Compassionate Committee for the Homeless in North Bay

  • Peterborough: United Way - Coats for Community

  • Prince Edward County: Keep Kids Warm

  • Sault Ste. Marie: Sault Career Centre

  • Thunder Bay: Clothing Assistance

  • Timmins: [Organization to be confirmed]

  • Fredericton: The Shelters

  • Moncton: Salvation Army

  • Saint John: Salvation Army

  • Charlottetown: Salvation Army

These incredible organizations are on the frontlines of providing warmth, comfort, and hope to individuals and families in need. Our donations will help them expand their reach and ensure that no one in our community has to face the cold unprepared.

But our mission doesn’t stop here. We’re also encouraging our community members to join us in making a difference. Consider donating your gently used winter clothing to a local shelter, volunteering your time to assist these organizations, or even sharing their efforts on social media to help spread awareness. Small actions can create big ripples, and together, we can provide warmth to those who need it most.

This initiative is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together as a community. At Uride, we’re not just about getting you from point A to point B; we’re about supporting the people and places that make up our neighborhoods. Giving back is part of who we are, and we’re honored to stand alongside these incredible organizations in their fight against the cold.

We’re all in this together, and every effort counts. Whether it’s donating winter clothing, volunteering, or simply spreading the word about these initiatives, we can all play a part in weathering the cold as a united community.

Let’s keep each other warm this winter. Together, we can make a difference.
